Our Story

Born and raised in Mount Vernon, OH, Chuck worked as an EMT, paramedic  and ultimately a flight paramedic for 20+ years in California. Amanda is from Northern California and worked as a wildland firefighter/EMT, ski patroller and a wildlife biologist for the last 15 years.
The increasing intensity and devastation of California wildfires, along with everything that comes with it finally drove us to seek refuge in another state.  So we decided to give up our careers for now and focus on our passions of animal rescue and refuge.
We now are living the dream, selling veggies & eggs at a road side stand from our rescue chickens, ducks and turkey.
